Preventive and Community Health Programs
At Citizen Hospital and Research Center, we believe that prevention is better than cure. Our Preventive and Community Health Programs are designed to reduce the burden of disease through health education, early detection, and public health outreach. We are committed to building a healthier community by equipping individuals and families with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to live healthier lives.
Health Screenings
Early detection saves lives. We conduct regular screening programs within the hospital and in community outreach settings to identify health issues before symptoms appear.
Screenings include:
- Blood pressure and hypertension checks
- Blood sugar and diabetes screening
- HIV testing and counseling
- Hepatitis B & C testing
- Malaria and tuberculosis screening
- BMI and nutrition assessments
- Cancer risk assessments (e.g., breast, cervical, prostate)
Results are explained clearly, and follow-up care is arranged for patients who need further attention.
Immunization Services
Our immunization programs help protect individuals, especially infants and children, against vaccine-preventable diseases.
Vaccines offered include:
- Routine childhood immunizations
- Tetanus, Hepatitis B, and Typhoid vaccines
- COVID-19 vaccination (as available)
- Travel and occupational health vaccines
- Booster shots and catch-up immunizations
We work in line with national and global health guidelines to ensure vaccination coverage across all age groups.
Health Education and Awareness Campaigns
We host regular health talks and awareness campaigns to empower the community with knowledge about disease prevention and healthy living.
Topics include:
- Nutrition and hygiene
- Family planning and reproductive health
- Mental health awareness
- Substance abuse prevention
- Lifestyle modification for chronic diseases (e.g., hypertension, diabetes)
- Adolescent and maternal health education
Our team conducts these sessions in clinics, schools, worship centers, and public spaces, making healthcare information accessible and relatable to all.
Community Outreach Programs
Through partnerships with local leaders and organizations, we organize mobile clinics, rural outreach, and school health programs, bringing essential healthcare services to underserved areas.
These include:
- Free medical check-ups
- Mobile labs and diagnostic services
- Distribution of insecticide-treated nets
- Deworming and nutritional supplements
- Sanitation and environmental health advocacy
Our Preventive and Community Health Department is a vital extension of our hospital’s mission, to promote long-term wellness and prevent avoidable illness at the grassroots level.
